InciExplorer
InciExplorer is a web app by Bondconsulting Organization for people who formulate and regulate cosmetic products. For each ingredient it brings together the INCI name, chemical identity and regulatory status across markets, and says whether it may be used, where and under what conditions, before a formula is built on it. It shows contradictions between sources and does not hide them.
From the need to the solution
Need
May this ingredient be used? In which market, under what limits, since when? The answers are scattered across annexes, inventories and the constant updates of twenty-eight markets, and presence in a catalogue is not permission.
How it was worked out
One decision rule for everything: the strongest status wins (prohibited, then restricted, then positive list), only a cited source may say “verified”, and a similar name is never a go-ahead. The reader sees the decision and, beneath it, all the evidence for and against.
Data integration
The EU CosIng catalogue, the Chinese IECIC inventory, the annexes of the EU regulation, country-by-country rules (37,097 for China alone), brand black lists and regulatory news, with cross-source coherence checked at every update.
AI
An agent reads regulatory news and sorts it: already in our rules, to be checked, to be updated. It never decides an ingredient's status: the rules and the cited sources do that.
Solution
One ingredient, one market, one decision with its action; a whole formula checked against the chosen markets; alerts when something changes.
- Time saved
- Checking twenty-eight markets takes one screen instead of twenty-eight websites.
- Knowledge added
- Contradictions between sources stay visible instead of vanishing behind a single answer.
Without the knowledge matrix, AI does nothing: here it comes last, on top of data put in order.
InciExplorer looks at cosmetic ingredients from the side of nomenclature and rules: INCI name, chemical identity, regulatory status across markets.
It says whether an ingredient may be used, where and under what conditions, before a formula is built on it. When two sources disagree it shows the contradiction and does not quietly pick one.
What it does
- Search by INCI name and chemical identity
- Regulatory status, market by market
- Compliance check of a formula
- Brand black lists
- News and alerts on regulatory changes

Frequently asked questions
What is InciExplorer?
InciExplorer is a web app about cosmetic ingredients. For each ingredient it brings together the INCI name, chemical identity and regulatory status across markets, and says whether it may be used, where and under what conditions.
What does InciExplorer do when two regulatory sources disagree?
It shows the contradiction. When the same ingredient or rule comes from several sources, InciExplorer checks that they agree before presenting an answer and, if they do not, flags it and does not quietly pick one.
